geforce 6800 le crashing athlon 64
Hi there. my machine is a athlon 64 3000+, with 512meg of DDr ram and running windows xp x64. my problem is that everytime that I play a 3d Game my machine crashes out to a black screen and I have to turn my pc off at the powersuply switch at the back. I have tried using different drivers for my geforce 6800 le and even tried using windows xp 32 bit but still the same. there dosnt seem to be any pattern to this either some times It happens as soon as I fire in unreal 2k4 sometimes as soon as san andreas starts other times I can play for about a hour or so !!!. I tried swopping my ram just in case and no luck so I tried the card in my p4 machine and its fine - can any body tell me what the hell is happening ?

What make of power supply and what is the wattage, You need some serious wattage to power your internal toys
If the power is unstable then you will get crashes

Check that your pc isnt overheating, since it happens when you are gaming and such, also as format c: asked, give us more details as to your setup, your power supply and internal case cooling.

I sat & looked at this quite a bit & scratched my head a bit, & then I realised the bit in bold, so I thought I'd highlight it for everybody else as I was about to say lack of hyperions was probably it, but it shouldn't be as :-
VIA Hyperion Pro64 drivers..The drivers contained in this beta package (except for the SATA/RAID drivers) are built in to the final WinXP64 operating system. This package is no longer needed...
If however you've previously been running a beta copy of x64 then it may well be something to do with mismatched versions of your agp GART (see the notes on this page ) ..
Any clues on a bsod or anything showing up in event viewer ?

I would be interested in what motherboard exactly its running. Power supply is a consideration but a 64 requires nothing extra ordinary
What motherboard exactly and what chipset?
