[RESOLVED] Where can I find a Sony cd-rom?
I need to find a sony cd-rom model number cdu311-gi. I am doing warranty work for a customer on their sony computer. I have to have that specific model due to the type of case the computer has. If you know of any where I can find this model please respond to this. Any responses are greatly appreciated! Thank You. Chris

What do you mean by the type of case it is in?? I have only seen the face plates altered, which if this is the case, you can take them off the old CDROM and install on the new CDROM. Normally even if you find the same model number, when you receive it, it will have the normal face plate attached to it.

I'd say the first place to look would be the manufacturer, especially if it is under warranty. If *you* are the manufacturer, then you should be able to get the right part from your distributor. Boy, we're not very helpful are we? Try http://www.pricewatch.com, if you don't have any luck there try working out some terms with somebody like Merisel or TechData. If all else fails try Sony's e-mail support, they're pretty friendly, though not very quick to respond. Scratch that, just checked merisel, they don't have that model, how old is it?

Look for Sony CDU611. Do not think the CDU311
is available. 611 is a direct replacement, and is 24X.
