Network Errors due to the ncx99.exe trojan.
I was somehow infected with the ncx99.exe trojan, which if you don't know what it is, can be an extremely nasty little thing. It makes an attack on an IIS vulnerability. Anyhow, I was infected, and removed it. Afterwards I fortunately was able to regain network connectivity with no problems. However, I have a VPN connection to establish internet access. (I am using proxy to write this). When I try to connect to my VPN connection it gives me, "Error 769: The specified destination is not reachable." The address to the VPN is correct and my account is working fine via other computers. So..I removed all my protocols, tcp/ip, netbui, etc, etc. and added them again from scratch. I also replaced my wsock32.dll in case that was appended by the trojan. To my dismay I am still not able to access the VPN. Also another symptom to think about. I try pinging my gateway and other computers next to me which are on the same segment and it give me the error from the command prompt, "PING: Transmit failed, error code 65." Can anyone give me some suggestions to fix my dillemma here, or any steps in the right direction. All will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
