no sound for me
hi. i'm dealing with the same problem as kermie except i have windows xp home edition. i downloaded everest and it says for my audio settings: Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller PCI

Welcome to windrivers blahgrldia. Boards with the Intel AC'97 Controller also have an AC'97 codec made by either Realtek or ADI Soundmax. These are different than the software audio codecs you listed. To make the problem worse, neither Everest, Sandra, or any other hardware detection program I'm aware of seems to detect the codec model. So, we need to know the make and model of your computer and/or motherboard so we can locate the driver for your codec.

Well, if you look in everest, there is an icon for the motherboard.
Also if your computer was made by people like dell, hp, compaq, tiny, etc... post the full model number of the computer.

You look at the label on the back of the machine, or the invoice or the user manual.
According to my research this is the spec for your board

i think the audio controller that i listed was something my friend gave to me b4 i came here for help. she thought it wuld be the thing that i needed so i'm not sure if that's the right one for my comp. the sticker on my comp says taht itz HP pavillion t000
