Win XP Upgrade problem.
I was attempting to upgrade a Windows ME box to Win XP Pro, but i get this message:
The following value in the .SIF file used by setup is corrupted or missing:
Value 0 on the line in section (WinntDirectories) with key "."
Setup cannot continue. to quit Setup, press F3.
Anyone have any idea as to why i am getting this message?
Thanks for any help.

Is this a clean install of winME? If not, do not upgrade!!!
Seriously, winme puts up with all kinds of stuff that xp will not tolerate. If you upgrade a machine with problems, you upgrade the problem too. Having said that....
Are you booting from cdrom or starting the setup from within Windows ME? Is this xp sp1 or an earlier cd version? Is the cd retail or oem?

This is an attempt to upgrade from within Win ME.
It was trying an install from Win ME, which is totaly clean, no drivers or programs. Was trying to keep the upgrade as clean as possible, then i get that error message, and can't contine with the upgrade,

If you are not trying to preserve existing programs, there is no reason to install as an upgrade. Format the drive and do a clean install booting from the xp cd.
