[RESOLVED] No dial tone detected

I have reinstalled Win98.
Since then when trying to connect to my ISP I get an error "no dial tone detected".
After several tries,it's OK and I connect.
My modem is Rockwel 33600 internal.
May be I did not configure it correctly or may be there are drivers needed.
Pls help.

Hi Maria,

Both of those things might be the problem. You may have to uninstall reinstall the modem. But first try a couple quick fixes.
1. put 2 commas in front of the phone # to dial
2. Make sure Wait for dial tone is checked in modem properties. (in the control panel)
3. lower max speed in the modem properties to 38400 or 19200 <-- not preferred
4. try either of these strings in extra settings of the modem properties
AT&F or AT+ms=v34
