Win 98 doesnt recognise AGP card
OK im having a bad day again just installed an new mobo,PIII,modem and graphics card after i slicked the drive and installed win 98 i will not recognise the 8 Mb graphics AGP card i installed it keeps thinking its a PCI and only lets me select 16 colours i know ive overlooked something probably in the BIOS but i cant remember the sequence of dissabling PCI graphics!!!

you are having driver problems.
thats it. when an AGP video card installs , The OS looks at it just like it is a PCI video card , until the drivers tell it otherwise.

You better install the agp driver support for win98 as well.

This is normal. Windows will see the AGP card as a PCI card as previously stated. go ahead and let windows install the card as a standard PCI card. After it is done, go into device manager and change the adapter. You can also just load the drivers as soon as windows sees the card.

Also if it is a VIA chipset MOBO, you have to install the 4-in-1 drivers before you can install an AGP card.
