    SB-Live/Value

I've just installed the SBL/Value and am getting a reverbering sound on the wav audio portion. It plays cd audio just fine. I get no audio wave sounds other the annoying constant reverb sound. I've checked for device conflicts in device manager and have none. intel 233 MMX, 740 3-d agp, Adaptec 940W, 128mb ram, Soltek MB w/Via chipset, latest DirectX. latest updates and patches for MB and chipset. Have no faith in Creative replying to my E-mail as they never have in the past! Any help will be greatly accepted. Darren, if you straighten this one out, i'll buy you a pint or two when in the UK begining of May

From the control for panel you can click on the Audio HQ icon. From their you'll get about seven different icons. Choose the one that says "Environmental Audio" it should come with four different tabs. Choose the second tab stating "source" from their you can play with the settings that will tweak any wav file you might play. You can use the test to play a wav constantly while adjusting the sound, such as reverb and chorus. Also check the environment setting it may be set to something odd, try the no effect setting or 2 speaker option from the environment tab.

Trance's answer seems to be right. If you have the creative launcher installed you should have a tab with settings on it. In this setup you have the option to adjust the audio effects so that it sounds right to you.
I cannot be more precise at this moment as I have just set up my system with a triple boot option, so as soon as I get all my drivers sorted I'll post more.

Thanks to both of you for the reply. I tried doing exactly what was said but to no avail. even turned off the reverb and chorus for all options and created a new profile of what i wanted and still get the sound like a reverb and it loops and never stops, this thing i'm told is a wonderful card but i not so sure, with all the problems it's giving me. i noticed something else tho, upon booting up and it lists the devices that i have in a dos like screen it has the video and audio card using irq 11 but in device manager the are using different irq's and i don't seem to be able to get one or the other to a different irq in that boot up screen, any ideas?

The constant Re-verb noise you are hearing sounds suspiciously like a DMA conflict.<font face = arial size = -1>"Ah yes, the problems that have plauged mankind for all our short existance.. War, Famine, Pestilence, and DMA Conflicts</font>

Check to see what is happening in your System Properties, and see if any DMA's are Obviously coonflicting, if not, Jump into your BIOS, move your LPT (usually on 1 or 3), and use that DMA on your card. If that doesn't work, I have found that ball peen hammers can really do a trick on sound cards.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction and to a buddy that told me about ECP vs. EPP/SPP. Changed to a EPP/SPP setting and the apparent conflict went away and now i have very nice wave audio. Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions. One last 'Q' though, where might i find a "SPDIF" cable, reccomended by creative for the digital audio connection, checked locally and none to be found.

If you want an internal SPDIF cable find a local store that sells PC-Chips boards as the recent ones have the cables supplied with them, yet nobody uses them wiht these boards!!!!!!!
