I mean,
3 on the case
9 on the monitor
4 on the printer
5 on the quickshot multi game controler
9 on the modem
6 on the keyboard
1 on the speakers

Paul,
Those aren't all LEDs, some are little minicams observing your every move, sending images to Apple.com each time you access the net. They are driven by a secret driver file in Quick Time.
One of them, (which one?) is the Q-Beam Death Ray which will turn your PC into a Mac at 11:59:59 on December 31,1999

Just the other day I noticed the same thing at the office. I was closing the store a little after dark. I turned off the lights, looked back and noticed hundreds of tiny little LED's.
Amazing how many of those things we collect when working with computers

For any of you concerned about the power that's wasted by an LED...don't be. Each LED takes .7V to light up, and the wattage is around .3W. Even if you lit up 200 of them, you're still using less electricity than a single 75W incandescent light bulb (-:
