    Resolved [RESOLVED] unknown device

My computer keeps telling me i need a new driver for my computer because some new hard ware is installed. I have not installed anything recently and everything seems to be working fine. how do i figure out what the hardware is??? It says unknown device under device manager and it cant figure out what it is.

What do you have installed on your computer hardware wise?

Is that the only info it gives you? Does it call it a PCI card? Unknown PCI device, etc? More info what do you have installed, OS, hardware, etc....

i tend to find that the driver for the voice device on the modem is usually not automatically installed with many of the winmodems out there. if this is true than you may want to go to the device in device manager and click update drive and let it search the cd for the driver.

Get out your CD for the motherboard or download the driver for your chipset.
The "unknown device" is usally the firmware hub driver, that the chipset driver will update.
