Resolved [RESOLVED] CD Drives and the registry

I find that, in troubleshooting most CD-ROM
problems in WIN9X, that deleting the registry keys under HKEY_LocalMachine\enum\scsi that correspond to CD drives and restarting the computer is a good first step. Just don't erase the entry for you SCSI controller or scanner or ZIP drive or tape backup if you can avoid it.

I usually just boot to Safe Mode and kill all CDROM drives (doing so in SM usually kills the driver loading also.) But this takes it 1 step deeper. Thanks for the tip!

I do the safe mode thing too some times, but other times I just don't want to wait to boot into safe mode. And when you're working on John Doe's 386dx40 running windows 98SE with 16 megs of ram and a 500 meg hard drive you can get tired of waiting hehe.
