Need new headphones

I need some new great headphones, as my Sony MDR-CD60s just snapped in half!

I'd like something with good bass and treble and good overall sound quality that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I'd prefer to get them at Best Buy or Circuit City...maybe not the best prices and selection but I like to be able to hear something and have the option to return it if I don't like it.

Excellent bass, crystal clear highs...I use them exclusivly, ditching the speakers. 3d positional sound is outstanding in Rogue Spear and the music/ambient sound in games like Baldur's Gate Series are incredible.

They are pricey though, $149 standard...although the yahoo shopping had one place selling for $119.

Thanks Lycia...I've seen those, definitely out of my price range but maybe I'll just get them anyway

I've pretty much dumped my speakers, for the most part, also...but I'm not looking to spend $150 right now...I want to try to keep it aroudn $50 or $60.

Any word on these?

How about these? Never heard of that brand though, but I'm not a real audiophile either.

I don't watch any DVD movies but I play a lot of games (EAX enabled, whenever possible) and listen to MP3s.. my sound card is an SB Audigy.

I like genuine German Sennheisers, used my HD424's for years, but they're 2000 Ohm - very sensitive, you can run them straight off a line out.

I got a pair of Walkman type Sennheisers made in Ireland once though, they were terrible! Listen first is a must in my opinion.

I was looking at the Sennheiser HD477s at Best Buy..they look within my price range ($50) and they appear comfortable...any opinions on them?

confus-ed..thanks, I'll check those out, a lot of them look pretty expensive though. There's one cheap pair there but I'm not sure what the sound quality is like.

Sennheisers generally are light, sound pleasant and accurate, but a bit light on bass. Mine are the "open-air" type, which I like. The closed type sound like you're where the music is, the open type sound like the music is where you are.

In fact, I don't think any of the high end models mentioned above have microphones built in. I think you'd want to check the lower end of the spectrum...
