CD-ROM drivers corrupted or missing
I can fix this in any other OS except XP, my CD ROM drives are both showing up with the warning icon next to them and they are saying that the drivers are either corrupted and/or missing. I know there is a simple solution for this, but I am not seeing it.
Here's what I have done so far:
Removed them from the Device Manager and let the computer reinstall, then tried reinstalling them manually.
Used the XP Disk to do a repair reinstall.
Copied the files from another computer with same hardware setup.
Nothing is working. I have also physically checked the cables and they are all fine as well. Any suggestions??

Did you install any burning software such as ezcd creator 4 or real jukebox? These may cause the problem.

Have you tried getting some updated drivers from the manufacturers that are for XP and installing them instead?

A friend of mine just went thru this same thing. We downloaded the newest drivers, blah blah, the whole works! Nope. Nothing worked.
So he comes in today with a brand new hard drive, and we load XP up from scratch (he had done an upgrade previously), and what do you know?....Everything seems to work fine now. ?? Maybe he didn't completely remove the drivers before...who knows, but it seems to work now. If you can, you may want to try something along those lines.
Hope this helps ya

You can also try Windows Update, I believe there were a few cd patches they had there. Especially if you are using a CD/RW
