USB external sound card
Hello!
First of all let me say I'm a newbie so please be kind with me ...
I'm having a laptop and I wanted to put the sound on a 5.1 sound system; I bought an USB 5.1 sound adaptor, but all I get is a stereo output (front R-L and subwoofer). I don't need any fancy settings or an extra quality, only to hear the sound on all 6 speakers...
I've searched on this forum and others but coudn't find any solution.
If anybody can help me, please give me an answer or a link or anything else ...
Thanks in advance!

What adapter and what operating system?
Vantec makes one, and this review gives some useful info - perhaps yours is similar?

Welcome to Windrivers danceonline
The other thing to consider is the sound source. If the sound is just stereo, you will hear just from the two front speakers. So a DVD with 5.1 sound will use all 6 speakers, a DVD with just stereo will just use the two.
A DVD will have the sound type written on the box. Most music/video on the internet is just stereo. Most CDs are just stereo.
Some 5.1 setups allow you to produce a 5.1 type sound from a stereo source... but you would have to find the checkbox in the software you have that sets up your sound types.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
