Problem with Dell LCD Screen
Hi!
I know I haven't introduced myself, but I'm really in a jam here, and I'm hoping someone can help me:
I have a:
Dell Inspiron 7000
Pentium II 300-333 mhz
256 Mb Ram
8 Mb AGP ATI RAGE LT Pro 2x
Windows Me
My problem is this:
My monitor can't go into DOS or have any kind of strong dark color on it. I have no idea why.
The screen will look fine when something is seen in a small-to-medium window, where the darkness is only in a certain place, and everything else is either VERY bright or white.
However, When something colorful or dark does come up, like say an installer window, it'll "fade" away, with any toolbar icons lookng like lines across the screen and everything will look fuzzy. Also, the mouse pointer and any movement involved within windows is slowed down into "frames"...It's really hard to explain.....
I've tried it with a standard desktop monitor and everything looks and functions fine, with no problems, while the laptop monitor looks distorted and fuzzy.
Any and all help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the display is toast. Tough luck, I think.

Fried???
Can't be....everything looks fine if the background is pure white.....
the resolution is stuck at 1024 x 768, with the screen distorting at anything lower or higher than that.
I've set the refresh rate at optimal......
All I'd consider now would be monitor drivers, but Dell doesn't exactly offer an exact one....Kind of messed up that it's a used computer, so no tech support I guess.....
