Panasonic PV-GS120
Hi,
I have a new Panasonic PV-GS120 miniDV camcorder. I am trying to capture video on my laptop. Laptop specs: IBM T42 stinkpad, winXP Pro w/SP2. I have a generic 1394 pcmcia card that is recognized by XP with no problem. It's recognized as a TI 1394 adapter.
I have installed the m$ patch for panasonic camcorders, q329256_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.exe. Can someone tell me if the normal install of that patch flashes by with just a very rapid list of files and no user interaction other than launching it?
With the camera, however, it's another story. It seems to be recognized/enumerated only about 10%-20% of the time. Sometimes I only get the 63xxx device enumeration. Sometimes nothing at all. On the rare occasion when the camera is recognized AND one of the video capture programs sees it, trying to capture will crash the video capture program. The programs I have tried are m$ movie maker, Ulead Video Studio and WinDVD Creator.
I have tried to check all of possibilities listed (enumerated, haha) here on windrivers.com. I never saw the data invalid error, so I have not checked the reg.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long winded post.
