    Monitor Recognizing Problem

So the story goes, that my pops goes out and buys a brand new computer, and we both get the think working without a hitch. But then the computer crashes when my brother was using it, and it hasnt been usable since. The monitor doesnt recognize the computer, even though the computer turns on and runs just fine. Here is the computers specs:

    Motherboard: Gigabyte Geforce GA-K8N51GMF-9
    Processor- AMD 64 3700+

    Ram: 512 mb

Keyboard: Some Ben Q keyboard, that may have been the reason for the
comp to crash (Accidental hit of the Power button on the keyboard)

    Monitor: Ben Q FP93G X

    Help would be very great!

Have you tried hooking the monitor up to another computer and hooking up another monitor to your computer to rule out failure of the monitor or video card?

Hello xnorwaks and Welcome to WD forums,
I want you to shed some light on your problem - does your computer boots up (audioble Beep... you see BIOS welcome/splash screen) or nothing happens.
does your monitor stops working when Windows loads - if that is the case than you have probably incomatible screen mode (refresh rate, resolutio that are beyond screeen capability).
In that case boot into VGA Mode / Safe mode (http://www.petri.co.il/safe_mode_in_...00_xp_2003.htm) and see if you see any picture.

Keyboard: Some Ben Q keyboard, that may have been the reason for the
comp to crash (Accidental hit of the Power button on the keyboard)

This might indicate that your computer is in Standby/Hibernate and actually still running. Press the Power Button for a good 7-9 Seconds and this will turn of your computer alltogether and then reboot it.

I hope these two "shots in the dark" might assist you

    I will be lurking here,
    Gabriel
