Problem PnP sound card (crystal) in old 5x86
I recently purchased a cheap sound card. It has a single crystal chip (cx4235).
The card works fine on my new(ish) cryix P166+ but dosn't get detected in my cryix 5x86 100 (which is what I got it for).
Im running Windows 98 (but it didn't work in 95 either). The Crystal drivers (supplied) don't install..
NOTE: I can get sound out of it in DOS or if I use CWDINIT to turn sound blaster mode on then install sound blaster driver BUT this does not install the correct mixer/features and causes some problems.
Any ideas??

did you try adding the drivers by going to add new hardware, pick "other devices" not sound, point to drivers.....
try it (also make sure you remove any sound devices that may be listed under "other" in device manager first)
i think AOpen has drivers for that chipset under the sound card AW37 or something close to that too if you want to try it.
good luck

I have tried that - there are no ther devices -- windows does't detect it at all (it seems it dosnt scan the ISA bus for pnp devices like my P400 does - perhaps cos there is no ISA bridge???)
Thanks for ideas but no joy yet..
