VMWare vs Virtual PC
I recently decided that I needed virtual pc in order to have quick access to legacy operating systems. So I ordered it up, but when it got here, I noticed that it doesn' list Windows Server, or any Linux os's. VMWare seems to support both of those. Does anybody have experience with both programs and if so, which do they recommend.

if money is no object, then get VMWARE it works better and faster than Microsoft Virtual PC. but it's also at least 2 times the cost.
VPC will run linux, MS support just isn't going to help you do it if you are having problems.
I used VMWARE in a lab enviroment at school and LOVED it. we have VPC at work here (because it was cheaper) and it's OK. but it's no VMWARE

VMware! I have been using it for a couple of years and it rocks!
As said VPC is cheaper but also slower.... crawling with big loads (I can run 2 Win2K DC's and 2 workstations simultaneously on VMware, VPC is slow even with a single virtual machine) - on the same hardware - 600MHz PIII/1GB. Also VMware supports Linux and provides drivers and instructions for it.

Virtual PC doesn't "support" non-MS OSes, but I've run everything from MS-DOS 6.2 through Longhorn on it, no problems. I've also run Solaris 8 and 9 as well as a couple Linux builds (Red Hat, Debian, SuSE, Lindows) with no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend it.
