    CFS Liberty 2700T Overheating

    My searches haven't really narrowed down who made this laptop but anyway, it appears to be having an overheating problem.

    I've noticed the system fan cuts in and out and I was wondering if this is normal behavior? Some sort of thermastat or is the fan toast?

    Seems to be a "made for" product. You should email them and see what they have to say.

    The only things to do with fans I came across was for a linux installation and a bios update was recommended...which seems not unreasonable... but since we don't know who made the bios for the laptop, using the clevo bios would be dangerous.

    most notebooks use a thermaly controlled fan to reduce drain on the battery. the fan comes on at a pre-determined temp and then shuts off when the temp goes down however many degrees. this is pretty standart for all notebooks.

    I would definitely get a new fan anyway if it runs hot then crashes. Maybe even try and get a higher performance one.

    You could try www.3dcool.com they have all sorts of stuff there. I even got a PCMCIA slot fan to help stop my thighs from getting cooked...it works so well, the internal fan no longer has to cut in at all!
