XP / W98 / W95 Problem
I am trying to network a Windows XP PRO machine with a Windows 98SE machine and a Windows 95 machine.
Each machine has a fixed IP because the XP machine shares it's internet connection. (Both 98SE and 95 can access the internet through the XP PRO machine without any trouble)
I use Zonealarm at present as the firewall.
The problem is with the W98SE and W95 machines accessing files on the XP PRO machine.
If I go into Network Neighborhood I can see the XP PRO machine. I can also see the folders etc being shared. The problem is when I double click on any shared folder I get an error message.
The W98SE machine 'Not enough memory is available. Quit some programs' and the W95 machine says 'An extended error has occured'
Any advice greatly appreciated as I have never seen these errors before!

I'm not sure if it is causing the error but you need to create an account (username and password) on the xp machine grant privelages to the shares for that account and then use that account to logon to the 98 and 95 machines. It would not suprise me if this fixed your issue. Cheers.

Thanks for the quick reply Gollo.
I am not sure quite what you mean but...........
The windows 98SE machine logs on as QIFA.
Do I set up an account on the XP PRO machine through Control Panel / User Accounts called QIFA and set administrator access?
I say this because that is what I have tried but XP PRO just boots up inviting me to log in as different users.
I still get the memory error from the 98SE machine.
Can you confirm?
Thanks
To add some fiurther information.
I have added a laptop with XP PRO to the network and this suffers exactly the same problem when connecting to my main XP PRO machine. The laptop can see the shared folders but when clicking it says there is not enough server memory!

Yes you have to create the accounts and they must have passwords... to kill the optional logins on the welcome, change the way that windows xp logs on.
Has ZA been set to trust the network 192.168.0.x ?
Is is ZA pro with privacy?

Thanks NooNoo.
Under XP PRO I have set-up an admin account called QIFA and given it a password.
On the W98SE machine I log in as QIFA and type the same password.
I still get the memory error.
I am currently using Zonealarm (NOT PRO) and yes the IP of the W98SE machine is in the trusted zone.
Any other ideas?

Well let's look at the obvious then. How much memory does the xp machine have and what programs are running?
