What is MDA resources ??? Should I turn them on in resouces ???

It's Asus K8V Deluxe MainBoard with a AMD64 3200+ Radeon9700 Pro 1024 MB 400Mhz Ram 2X Raptor 36G 10K Drives.... When Running Need for speed Underground the Video messes up ... you can see the 3d but no text some times ? Bu only in menus ?? Got me and the other two techs stumped
