Realtek AC97 Problem
Hi,
After searching the internet for hours in attempt to resolve this problem, I've finally decided to seek help. After a re-installation of Windows XP Pro, I have no sound. Upon boot up, I get the message that new hardware is detected, which is Realtek AC97 Audio. This device is also listed as not installed in Device Manager. When I attempt to install it, the progress bar gets all the way to the end and then restarts my computer. I've tried booting in safe mode and the progress bar goes all the way. However, when I re attempt to load Windows it doesn't allow me, stating that this may be due to a recent hardware change. This results in me having to load last known good configuration.
Below are my system specs:
OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3
System Manufacturer: IBM
System Model: 8193KUQ
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz for IBM ThinkCentre
Memory: 1014MB RAM
Motherboard Name: IBM 8193KUQ
If any other information is needed, let me know.
Thank you.
