Okay, first I'll tell you what works.

The firewire port in the back of my pc is on the mobo and I have used it many times to pull video off of my mini dv camera.
The drivers are up to date and working.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NW150J Laptop with the I Link s400 port. The is the same port as what is on my mini dv camera. From the research I've done, connecting each end to their respective windows 7 hosts should allow them to share information. However, when both ends are connecting my pc to my laptop, nothing happens. Both IEEE 1394 drivers are up to date, so why am I not getting anything, it's not even acting like something is wrong, no recognition at all. I can't test the Vaio's port with my camera because it has the same size port as the camera. My cable has the standard firewire on one side (for the pc) and the smaller tip on the other end. Am I missing a program or some software that is required for recognition? Is this even possible between the two?
