Windows 8 not detecting external hard drive

WINDOWS 8 NOT DETECTING EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE, It will work fine with any other operating system so definitely a win 8 issue, any ideas?

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.
