Hey does anyone remember if you can reinstall Win95b over and not lose your customers programs?

After running Norton 2002 and finding 4606 files of which Norton repaired 4224. I then ran the compaq quick restore and then follow the instruction from norton for manual virus repair. Rebooted started norton virus cd and the virus is still there. Can you fdisk a compaq and then use quickrestore?

That depends on what "Recovery" you have. Compaq has a "Customer Recovery" which only takes the info off of the Save_disk partition. Then there is the full blown recovery. If you have the Customer recovery then no, once you run fdisk, you will loose the opiton to run that recovery. Also which model Compaq is it??

It's a compaq presario 5838.
I think install Norton 2002, then run live update and rescan. or?

In case you haven't already done so, check out Compaq's website for your Presario. It looks like there is a QuickRestore Boot Diskette that is available for download...says it is for Win98. Looks like lots of drivers listed there for Win98 and above. There is also a SystemROM update available. Also, notice the link at the bottom for Service & Maintenance Manual...might have some good info in there for you.
I'm good enough.

if you actually have a 95b disc, they only work as full versions, and will not upgrade installations, if you have quickrestore, you will have to follow instructions accordingly
To get 95b actual disc to install as an upgrade, remove all instances of the filename win.com from the computer
then run windows setup and direct it to go to the correct directory....
