Abit Kt7A-RAID problem
Okay, I just installed this board in a system with a 733 Duron, 512 MB and duel boot W2K and XP Pro. When i turn on the system, all I get is:
BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
Okay, so i've unhooked everything from the board, but the video, ram, cpu, mobo... but i still get this message. I've cleared the cmos jumper on the mobo. i've removed the cmos battery and replaced it, but still i get this message. i know the cpu is working. it came from another system. the RAM is okay. I can't even get into the bios. There are no jumpers on the mobo for the cpu. its set in the bios. am i going to have to flash the bios. I CAN boot to a floppy disk. anyone have any ideas?
I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

You're right - it's problem with BIOS. Your BIOS chip is partially damaged, and only boot block is working (that's why You see that message).
It's well-known situation, and there is well know way how to fix it.
In my topic here: this situation was described as situation no1.
So, here is short instruction what to do in Your case.

Easy, just make a bootable disk with as little on it as possible (eg an old DOS 6 bootdisk), plus the latest BIOS from abit's website, whack it in, boot it up and flash as normal.
I'm in charge and I say we blow it up

Always worked fine with a PS/2 keyboard, it's USB ones that are a bitch when you've only got half a bios.

I never heard of a 733 duron before...
as far as I know, Durons are 100MHz FSB.
The last time I saw that message with a Duron was when the heatsink wasn't seated properly.
Is it possible that the board is runing at either 66MHz or 133Hz bus speed?
Mind you, Duron's often run OK at 133 FSB anyway.
To prove something, one must first try to disprove it.

okay, sorry for the late reply, but i did get the board working by flashing the BIOS to v.1.03. oh, and its a Duron 750mhz. It seems to be running just fine. well, i just installed 2000 last night, but so far so good
