My pentium 3 processer
I just reinstalled win 98 on my computer. How come now when I go to system information it says i got a pentium 2 when i have a pentium 3.

Because Win98 was released before the PIII existed so it doesn't know to ID the core any differently.....

Do you have the 2nd edition installed? its a good idea to do so anyway

Sowulo is right.
This is a well-known issue. Microsoft admits it and this is not a problem with the CPU.
