    Wink Norton Uninstall

How do I uninstall Norton manually? I have deleted the registry keys, but some of the files will not me delete them because they are supposedly "in use".

What Norton product are you asking about?

Anyway if you go to Symantec's website and do a search, you will find fairly detailed instructions on how to manually uninstall a number of their products.

    Lightbulb

Restart W2K into safe mode and delete everything related to the Symantec program in question...

Here's some info I got a while back:

    ************************************************** *******************
A few things to look at are:

    1. What is the drive space on C. when we install, we dump the files

into the temp, and extract from temp. That means that on C, you will

need to have at least 450 megs of free space for the install.

    2. Clean out you temp directory.

    3. Make sure before the install that the Virus def's folder under

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared doesn't exist. If it

    does, delete it.

Let us know if you still have the problem.

If you need more assistance with this problem, please let us know.

I found the following notes from another customer who used this

    process to solve the issue:

    Delete ALL symantec related files

from the HD, including shared files, dlls, vxds and so on.

X:\NAVNT\navshell.dll (where X is the letter of the drive it has been

installed on) had to be deleted in DOS mode in some cases, because NT

    locked the file.

Then open regedt32.exe and delete the following

    registry keys.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYMANTEC\*.*

(I needed to take ownership of many of the subkeys, then reset

privileges so that I had enough to delete these keys.)

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\*.*

    Then run the install.

I hope this helps with your issue.

If we can be of further assistance in regards to this, please let us

    know.

Here is a document that talks specifically about the roll back issues.

Title: 'Errors: 2318, 2351 - "Remote Setup failed. Install was rolled

    back."'

I would also suggest trying a manual uninstall to remove all previous

Norton AntiVirus (NAV) files and registry keys. Here is the documents

    for removing NAV.
