This disk that your putting into drive A:, is it a start-up disk or is it just a plain empty 1.44?

If it is you need to create the "start-up" disk.
To create one, open Add/Remove Programs in control panel. Click on the "Start-Up Disk" tab, and then click on create disk.

WinME has removed the boot disk capabilities as far as I have seen.. You're best bet would be to go to www.bootdisk.com and download a Win98SE boot disk and boot from that.

What? I have ME with a bootup disk and it works fine... Maybe the disk is bad? Try making another boot disk.
