a good place where i can get a custom built computer
You know how you can build your own computer? Well I heard that some places online build one for you and ship it to your house. I am not talking about Compaq or something i mean where they give you a big list of motherboards, processors, hard drives, etc.
What's the best place on the Internet that does that? It's time to get a new PC and I don't want to mess with it myself (afraid I might break something) but I don't want to buy it from an OEM either
and i live in the USA
thank you

I encourage you to give building your own box a try. It's really not that hard (shhhhh... don't tell anyone else here I said that!). If you really don't want to try, your best buying bet would be to buy locally from an established computer shop nearby to you that has been around for a while. You may pay more than buying one online, but the warm fuzzy you'd get from knowing your vendor is close by in case of problems would make up for it.

I can put in a hard drive and things but the processor installation really bothers me. Putting in all the fans and heat sinks and paste and stuff, gets me a bit nervous when i do not know what i am doing, i don't want to blow up my processor
Is there a place that I can read up on exactly how to do this?

Pogi is so right, buy locally whenever you can! That way it's easy to get support, since you can walk into a store and talk to a human being. Instead of trying to communicate with somebody through a maze of voice mail menus. You don't have to worry about whether it will be shipped to you in once piece. And if you need to return something, much fewer hassles. Plus you are supporting your local economy.
I am not saying that you should never order online, that is fine for hard to get/find/special items but stay local whenever you can.
Find a place that does custom builds (most small computer shops do) and write out a specification of what you want (amount of RAM, hard disk, motherboard, video card, type of case, etc) and be specific as you can. Then with that quote you can do some comparison shopping and find the best/right price.
Make sure that whatever software comes with the system also comes with a certificate of authenticity (most important) and the original install CD's. If you find a place that won't give you both of these, then look elsewhere!

I always build my own. But for the company I always order custom parts prebuilt from http://www.asacomputers.com/. I'm sure they'd love some more business. But building it yourself is the best way to learn. And there always somebody here at windrivers to help you along the way if you get stuck on something.

Okay I'm going to Play Network Admin for a second and say if you really don't want to mess around with building your own go with dell. They have been in bed with major brands for a long time and offer a great product. After dell then price locally. If they offer the same price or lower go locally other wise go dell. Don't flame me it's just a surgestion.

Also, one more thing. You don't always have to feel like you need to build it yourself. After all, when you go shoppping for a car, you don't go and buy all the seperate components and built it yourself. You just go to the dealership, and pick out one that meets all your specifications. Only if it's something you enjoy doing or are interested to learn, should you build one yourself.

Ok I would definetly say try to build your own! Its a killer experience to spec, buy, build, test, tweek, test, tweek, test, and to finally get your own "custom spec'd out / built by yourself" rig up and running.
to buy parts great site: <a href="http://www.pricewatch.com" target="new">PriceWatch</a>
But
If you want to buy a prebuilt custom rig then hey why go easy, get something sick.. go to <a href="http://www.alienware.com" target="new">AlienWare</a> <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

If you decide to buy online, I suggest that you try to use a company that advertises here on WinDrivers. Tell 'em you saw the ad on WinDrivers.
Helps to pay the bills around here.

when I purchased the components for my pc, I mainly got them from www.c-computers.com
They are out of Champaign, IL. They also build the machines that you give them specs to. They have pretty decent prices and the turn around was quick.
I also picked a couple things up at SAMS Club (monitor, CDRW).
I haven't been dissatisfied yet and it's been 2 years.
