removing bios chip
I have two questions.
1. What tool do you use to remove the bios chip from the mobo?
2. I am working on a case that has the holes for the usb, mouse, keyboard, parralel port, etc. in an odd order. Is there anywhere that you could pick get a new plate to replace the old one so that a new mobo can be installed in this case?

1. Depends whether it's meant to be removable or not. What sort of board? Why do you want to remove it?

well thats pretty interest, 1. why did u want to change the mobo, and keep the case.
2. changing everything is better, the chipset not always work on other boards, so u only will take out that piece to became later in a useless piece ot trash.

Assuming that you have an ATX case, there are two styles of adapter plates, one is very popular, the other is not. They are generally both supplied with the case. You might be able to get one at any computer repair shop.

Use a tiny screw-driver and pull the one side up. Then pull the other one and take it out gently with your hand. Remember you have to ground yourself first and then touch the chip. Don't do it being barefooted! Were a pair of shoes with plastic soles.

I use a hard plastic letter opener to pop up socketed chips.

I always use a very fine piece of steel slide it straight under (careful not to short the pins) and you have a convienient handle at each end - no bent pins.
