F1 to resume?

i have a Intel i810 motherboard that has suddenly begun to display the 'F1 to resume' message immediately after POST.
i tested the board with Troubleshooter and found nothing wrong. of course the Intel site is no help. memory also tests good and the BIOS of course has no place to enable/disable the boot messages. any ideas? i've never seen this happen before.

The full error message wouldn't be something along the lines of "Stuck Key Hit F1 to Resume" would it? I've seen this intermittently pop up during bootup on several Intel MB's in the past. BIOS updates don't seem to help. It appears to be a harmless bug (although somewhat annoying).

no, the message is simply 'F1 to resume'. i flashed the BIOS...didn't help.
but you have given me an idea about the keyboard.

unplug the keyboard and boot...shutdown and plug it back in...no more message...makes one feel silly when the answer is so simple.

Tills in a shop I used to work in used to do that a lot. It's no big problem... Unless your on a POS (Point of sale not piece of s.....) keyboard with no F-keys... then it gets interesting.

Do you have that Intel Bios splash screen? If so disable it and see what the error is. Could be a memory size error or maybe something as simple as not auto detecting HDD's. There is a reason you are being halted. By the way have you checked the time to make sure the battery is good?
