Glad he was able to walk away.
Look at the bright side, he didn't have to go through the door to get out.
And people complain that they have to wear safety belts??
That should be a poster for a pro-seat belt campaigh.

Amazing
That a car, made from reinforced steel, could be ripped to shreds and yet the fragile human inside, remaind unharmed. Must have said his prayers the night before!

Yeeeeehaaaa!!!
Now that is what I call a ride. 180mph to 0 in .01 seconds. Too bad about his car.
That's the worst looking hat I ever saw. You buy a hat like that I bet you get a free bowl of soup. It looks good on you though.

The chassis isn't made from reinforced steel...its mostly fiberglass and carbon fiber. Those cars are built to disintegrate on impact to get the force away from the driver. When you see a big crash and the body of the car is still intact thats when the driver is usually hurt pretty bad. Thank god for technology!

Exactly. The roll cage is the strongest part of the car. Its designed to protect the driver while the rest of the chassis absorbs most of the impact. If the rest of the car was as strong as the roll cage is, that driver would definetly have been killed.

Kind of makes you think, since the Earnhardt crash was not nearly that bad.

If Im not mistaken, he was either not wearing, or the harness that supports his neck and head was defective....Which was the main reason of his death, not the actual impact....
