laptops
so a guy said to me today i've got 1200. I want a laptop, with a dvd/cd-rw, sceen size does not matter. I'm going to do simple graphics (he collects comic's cards and scans them and has a database of what he has, that is why he wants the cd-rw), word processing, dvd-movies, car navigation.
I don't really deal with laptops so i'm not sure what to tell him I suggested Toshiba's but apart from that nothing else.
so some feedback on good laptops..makes and model's in that pricerange...

Dell's or Ibm Thinkpad's for me...
I like Dell Support (mostly) and I like the keyboards on thinkpads
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

I've liked a few of the HP laptops. I'm currently running a Omnibook at work, and it's pretty nice. But then I've always loved HP. Best customer support I've ever seen. Course I havn't delt with them since the merger, so all bets are off at the moment.

AAARGGHHH. I hate those pointing sticks on IBM's. Better make sure you can use it. Otherwise stick with a touchpad based machine.
