Sure... when we have a clue what the problem is with the mouse... whether its the onboard or a plug in, and if it is a plug in whether its a comport, usb or ps2....

1- change mouse. if that does not work
2- change computer.

sorry I take so long to rely. the mouse is on the keybroad and there is no movement and when I click on the left or right button and no I didnot loose my nip.
P3 500mhz 64 Mb win ME

in device manager - is the mouse showing as properly installed? Exactly which ibm laptop - model number please?

it is a IBM thinkpad 600x model 2645. and the mouse does showup in the device manage

Remove the mouse in device manager
reboot and let your os find it again
see if it works

I try that already, still is not working. If I upgrading my OS system will it help.

sounds like a mechanical fault then... either that or you didn't quite wipe up all the beer that got spilt on it...

Mmmm if I remember properly there's some configuration s/w that lets you turn the trackball off or on....
Can you download the dos driver for the trackball and try it at a 'real' prompt....
There's chipset patches too which might be appropriate... before we decide its mechanical....
