we all love having lots of PC's
I have 4 pc's which are used everyday.
I only use 2 a PII laptop and a XP2600 gamer.
but there are 2 more used by others.
I have 3 more for "hobby" (a PI linux, Athalon750 freeBSD, Athalon1000 win2000 MP3 machine hooked to home theater)
and 2 more that work but arn't used
plus lots of parts everywhere.
Why do I have soo many PC's?
I can't throw them away or consolidate. I love having them all around me, connectiong them together, trashing and fixing them! LAN parties.
(# of computers)*(size of home network) = GEEK PRIDE!

5 computers, but one is an old 486sx chipwindows 3.1 machine.
I'm just experimenting at times with it. Of the 4 others, each belongs to a family member== one for me , one for easch daughter, and one for the wife. She has the slowest p2400,followed by youngest daughterDuron750, oldest daughter 1Gb. Tbird and mine a 1.2 Gb Tbird. All conected to a hub router to cable modem. The 3.1 machine is ready toconnect, but isn't yet. We are doing a remodle and at the swame time rewiring the setup, so it soon will be connected!
HP Laptop 6830s with 4 Gbs ram and a 250gb HDD I run Vista business 64bit. But I have some old computers too.

So far I have 4 fully operational systems, My Dad has one and we are on the same Linksys router, SO that makes a total of five computers
The flag ship Enterprise boasts a P4 1.6 gig cpu 768 megs ram
Then there is the USS Linux sporting a 2 gig Celeron 512 megs of ram
The USS Packard Bell , My first 'puter 166 mhz 64 megs
The USS TV , In my bed room for watching Trek episodes 1ghz 512 megs of ram
The Old Fart, My Dads 1.1 gig Celeron 512 megs of raam
I also have 4 systems sitting on the floor two of which are fully functional, then the other two are almost functional,
So I guess that would be 8 computers plus my two cases and a cuv 266 asus mother board
It is looking like Utopia Planatia here, I just shipped out a win 2 k box and I am preparing a win 98se box so as of now make it 9 computers WOW !!
I want a lappie
Format c I'm givin er all she's got cap'in !!! )

Too Damned Many
I've got 6 working, and enough parts laying about to make another 2 or 3.
1. Athlon 500 box for DNS & Webserver, WinXP Pro
2. Duron 950 box for Mailserver, WinXP Pro
3. Athlon 1800+XP for gaming & surfing, WinXP Pro
4. Athlon 750 for network admin & surfing, Win2K Pro
5. Athlon 1700+XP for testing & general monkeying around, WinXP & Win2k Pro
6. Compaq notebook, Athlon 1400+, for keeping an eye on things whilst lounging by the pool & wardriving, WinXP.
All are fed by a phat T1 from my newborn baby, Black Magic Wireless, through a variety of racked Cisco hardware. Black Magic Wireless should be available to the masses by June '03, provided I can figure out how to get folks to subscribe. PM me if you've got any ideas.

So many people went into detail, now I want to:
1. P4-2.53Ghz 512mb RAM WinXP Pro, GeForce4, DVD-R/RW, my main PC, gaming, buring, emulation. PC Anywhere remotes to PC#2 and PC#3.
2. Cel1.2Ghz 512mb RAM, Win2k Server, 120gb storage, Active Directory, DNS, in a closet controlled remotely from PC#1. No keyboard or mouse.
3. AMDK6-450, 256mb RAM, 80gb storage, Win2k Server, merely a BDC and also backup device for PC#2. Also in a closet, remotely ran from PC#1. No keyboard or mouse.
4. Sony Playstation 2, with Network Adapter. SOCOM Navy Seals, Madden 2003, Tony Hawk 4...
5. Compaq 233mmx 144mb RAM laptop in the kitchen, runs Netmeeting and also web apps. I also installed a webcam to video conference while eating breakfast...! Pretty slick, not tooo much space taken either, less than $200!
6. IBM P3-550mhz 256mb RAM, for my mother, she's just discovered the joys of Kazaalite and buring with her 8x SCSI burner.
Not braggin' not hatin' I just love technology, and you all can see how foolish I really am!

Utopia Planatia was attacked by the Borg, AKA nimbda virus, took out USS TV, My ISP said I could do nothing about charging the attacer unless I had a log report, I had ports 113 and 139 compromised thanks to the new Linksys firmware released on Dec 13/ 02
Anyone know any good antitrojan software out there ?

Right now 14......including 3 Dualies, a PIII 866, and 2 PIII 550's.
There's a 2000XP, 1.33 Athlon, P4 2.4, PIII 1GHZ, etc all with 512MB ram or more.
Mixed network contains a G3-450 MAC for video editing, an 800MHZ iBook with Airport. My P4 Dell lappy is connected to the Airport as well.
Got enough parts to build 4 or 5 more lesser machines.....
Great for LAN parties!
