    New Mainbord older AGP card

Can anyone tell me if a newer MB well not that new anyway , but new non the less can work with an older videocard? im talking particularly about a ECS K7S5A (sis 735 chipset mb)
can i install a Voodoo Banshee Agp card on it ???? i belive it's agp 1x manufacturer only states that the MB is agp 4x compatible nothing like no older cards on it !

The video card may not work because the voltages are different. I'm pretty sure the Banshee is a 3.0 volt card. Newer motherboards use 1.5V. The card may be keyed differently so you can't put it in an AGP slot with the wrong voltage, but not all boards will have this feature.

You will create some damage if you mix the voltages...

ECS K7S5A is 1x2x4x compatible, at least the revision 1, 1.5 boards are, I've had my board in for a while and have used it to bench, Voodoo 3's, Gefroce2 and 4 cards, so I dont think you will have any problems.

SIS 735 has 'agp voltage sensing' so yeah should be ok ... Some supposedly agp 2.0 (1x,2x & 4x)compliant motherboards DON'T which was what Mac was saying....

    Intel board

my old intel SE400BX-2 (2xAGP) couldn't recognize my new 4x AGP card a few years ago. i ended up just getting a new mobo/cpu, everything, as it was about time to upgrade anyway. got an ECS k7vza, which has had a lotta trouble, till i flashed the bios. now it works like a charm, still using it too.
