    Talking Windows shutdown

I am working on an ASUS P2B-F When I choose shutdown in the shutdown window It reboots like I selected restart. Ant ideas? The system is running Win 98SE

Make sure you have all updated drivers for your mobo. Also you might want to install the Win98SE shutdown suplement:

The best is to do a windows update and install all the patches...

    System Tools switch

You can also turn off "Fast Shutdown" to remedy this, go to START - PROGRAMS- ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS - SYSTEM CONFIGURATION , click the last tab, ADVANCED, and look for a switch that says "Fast Shutdown" something or other, and uncheck it. This is from memory, so Im not QUITE sure of its location, but I have done it a couple dozen times successfully in gone-by days.

The MS Knowledge base gives many many things to try, go to support.microsoft.com, and search for "shutdown windows 98"
