    Windows Update Woes

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the windows update’s not working?
Reloaded my laptop this morning and I can't get any of the updates to work.
All I get is a message no updates have been installed.
I tried to load from both the recovery CD's and from a win XP CD and both give me the same result.

    Acer 238lci P4 XP Pro SP1
    ect.

    Any comments appreciated

Try using this link to windows update

Due to the msblaster worm, a ddos attack was launched against .windowsupdate.com so that address was shut down.

i can get to the site no problem and get as far as the progress bars then it cuts out and gives me the red X and displays no updates have been installed

    very annoying

Poked through some of that last night and couldnt seem to find anything related to my problem

Maybe things will come back on line after this bit about the blaster virus has settled down

for now i will just have to go patchless i guess

Have you tried updating from the catalogue? Cllick on the link, personalise windows updates, on the page that shows up click the box Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also

The click the link that shows up on the left. You can then manually download whatever you want.

I was having the same problems with win98 and win xp update. It would allow me to pick the updates but would not install them. I looked into my windows update.log file and found the error. MS site mentions about the languages selected and time on your work station and that of the update server being to far apart. If I read the log file correctlly My time was 10:26 and the server time was 14:00.

But nothing I did Saturday or sunday could get it working.

What date and time is showing in bios, does it match windows? Is either of them correct?
