    First Spyware Now no Internet

I hope you can help. I have a PC that was loaded with SPYWARE. I Removed all spyware and ad ware by using Ad Aware 6.0. After that was done i rebooted and the PC ran 100 times better, no more popups, everything was good. So i went to open internet explorer and no internet. (PC is connected to a network with high speed internet). When i open a web browser i get the message page can't be displayed. I did a winipcfg. The PC is getting all the correct network settings. I can ping the DNS and Gateway Servers, but can't ping a website or website IP address. I ran SFC and also manually restore the WINSOCK.DLL File. Still not working. I also removed and reinstalled windows networking. Still not working. HELP ME PLEASE>......

If it was that infected, I suggest you run also spybot.
Ad-Aware cannot do all the job alone.

after that, try again and come back here with the result.

You most likely will have to fix a couple of windows problems, depending on the particular spyware you removed..does new.net sound familiar?

Also, check all security settings, and try the winsock fix for xp located here:

edit: you might also want to try the layered service provider fix located here:

What do you mean by "can't ping"? Host not found or no reply received?
If no reply is received try this in a command prompt:
    >tracert www.yahoo.com
and you will see exactly where your packets are being lost.
Also do you have any firewall running? Or any Norton product? Try uninstalling and see if the problem gets fixed.

Grand advice ceebee, but in this case I will bet my bottom dollar on newdotnet - Geoscomp has one fix, if that doesn't work let us know, but be prepared to have to format - yes in some cases even a load over the top will not work.

Of course, you've probably already done this, but...

Since you hook up via a network, go to Internet Options/Connections...make sure that "Never Dial a Connection" is checked.
