Geezer
Still none of that 'politically correct tripe' changes the fact that most here would agree the kid should maybe have had his mouth washed out & if the teacher had had enough & well .. 'fair play' - sadly I don't run the world or we'd have a slightly more prosaic attitude prevailing

Here you'd get sacked for this & never work with kids again.
True.
And the same thing would happen here in Canada.
The difference is that the first situation will permanently change an individual's perception of the world, love and sexuality. The other will leave a temporary taste in your mouth.

Well, taken like that, and regarding the situation, it seems that the parents have already blown it. If the child in question has been a repeat offender, then OBVIOUSLY something's wrong.

22 States have brought back, or never banned Corporal Punishment. I am not basing any opinion I just wanted to point that out.
Oops...forgot to point out that New York is not one of them.

...a vile, very nasty sexual reference" at a third-grade girl...
He's lucky the girl's parents didn't hear, or there would be more than soap to worry about!
The boy behaved for the remainder of the day and didn't complain to his foster mother, Thomas said. The boy's brother told district officials what had happened, she said.
Obviously he didn't find it that bad otherwise he would have complained to his foster mother. It looks like he only mentioned it in passing to his brother. No wonder the brother complained....if one acts this way, bet the other one does too!
It sounds like he needs more of this type of treatment. He behaved for the remainder of the day. If the teacher gets fired, he'll become worse knowing full well that there's not a darned thing the teachers can do about it. He'll just become another statistic. Teachers will begin passing him because they don't want to deal with him. Then what'll happen to him? Juvie? Jail??

Hi there,
I think the laws put way too many protections on children these days. What else can you do for bullies and kids who acts like little brats? Punishing them like sending them home is kinda pointless. Parents or even teacher can't do crap or face like this teacher for disciplicing the child.
My little sister been bullied many times, I talk to the teacher, even the bully's parents. Nothing works. If I did something to the bully, like slap or even spank him or even curse and swear to stop what he is doing, I will be jail for assault.
What a world we live in...

So common sense still prevails then in at least 22 states then ? Give them a clap !
I wish it did here, but oh no we are all concerned about 'child rights' too ! What about everyone elses right not to have to suffer because of out of hand juveniles who need a swift clout around the ear before they get out of hand .. Somewhere on the path of 'beating your kids is plain wrong' to 'now' we got all politically correct & have gone too far in favour of protection over what actually works most times for most people with no harm to the child except maybe learning 'swiftly' what was so wrong in what they were doing ..

On a related note, I have noticed lately that the children in shopping carts in the supermarkets and Walmart are just shrieking as loudly as possible. They don't even appear to be agitated...they just do it.
If only you knew what's inside of me now,
You wouldn't want to know me, somehow.
