If the jumpers are present, and you still have no audio (from the central light green socket), then your board could be faulty.
There should have been a small pack of blue jumpers included with the mobo.
The method of setting up surround sound is detailed in chapter 3 of the manuals.
Also, the front speaker out function only works with genuine Asus cases, which come with the correct moulded plug and switched sockets required. It will not work with generic cases......
I've deployed dozens of these boards, they're reliable and stable and the sound, when you get it working, is excellent.
After you get the sound working to your satisfaction, be sure to download and install the latest n-force driver pack, the one supplied on the mobo disc is well out of date

John? You are the man!!!! I'm almost there....I have sound but still minor issues. In audio settings for one of my programs hardware acceleration is not aloud...any ideas?

Hi Rico,
Never seen that problem so I guess it might be program specific...
What program is it? Someone here might know more!

Actually, I must admit....its a game....Halo. When I was P3 with WinME, using same VIDCard as I am now, hardware accel. was great. Now I'm AMD2600, WinXP. When I load the game and it detects sound and video, it gives me minimal sound options...
