mobo will not power off - just restart
Morning,
I have a home built system that will not power off. When you hit the power switch, it shuts down then immediately powers back up. If you hold the switch in, it does the same thing. The power supply that is in it checks out. It has a power switch on it.
Here is what I have tried:
Replacing power supply (with and without integrated power switch)
Replacing power switch
Replacing motherboard
All of the above does the same thing.
There are no BIOS settings as far as I can tell about this problem. The only way to shut it down is to kill the power supply.
Any ideas?

Looks like the IN530. It has a cyrix cpu, SIS 530 chipset.
I can provide more info if needed.
Thanks,

Is the computer on a home network??? Or do you have anything hooked up to the nic card? if so wake on lan might be enabled in the BIOS, which will cause the computer to boot up when any information is detected going to/from the nic card. Check your bios to see if this is disabled.

suggest a bios update followed by a repair install.
Check page 28 of this manual for the case connector headers. You may have the reset and power switches interchanged.

OK, I performed the BIOS update to the latest one available. It still does it. This board does not have any LAN connector on it, so I don't think it could be a LAN BIOS setting.
ANy other suggestions?

Sounds like the reset and power up switches are reversed. Or maybe just a faulty switch.
Is there a wake up switch on the keyboard? Maybe stuck?
