[RESOLVED] Deleting the Wininst0.400 dir
Ok, im trying to reinstall windows 98 in dos (can't get into windows, thats the main problem). Im trying to delete a folder called "winins0.400, its ****ing all my **** up because in the necessesary scan disk run, it comes up with over 40 corrupt files it needs to "fix". I can not delete this folder, it says path not found when i try.... does anybody know why this might be and how to fix it? btw. this is not the same computer im having problems with, this is a friends.

Have you tried the 'deltree' command from a DOS prompt?

Try -
C:\> deltree wininst0.400
If that doesn't work, download the disk manager program from the manufacturer of the hard drive and do a low level format, you know? Write zeros to the drive and start fresh. Just make sure you have a Win98 start up disk because the disk manager programs gonna want to know what system you'll be using when you go to reprogram.

If deltree wouldn't work try this:
c:\> cd winins0.400
c:\winins0.400> del *.*
c:\winins0.400> cd..
c:\> rd winins0.400
