use the Hp scrubber and start over
Mantra,
Call on go online at hp.com support with an hp support technician. Ask the technician for a link to the HP scrubber utility for the 1200 series. When you install the scrubber on your PC, it will create an executable on the desktop that looks like a trash can.
When you run the .exe select the dropdown for the series of the device and the software version.
Make sure all other programs are closed as much as you can, inclusive of virus protection programs. Make sure that the device is disconnected.
Run the scrubber which will remove all software associated with the device selected
Make sure you have the correct version of microsoft installer. I think the HP software may check for this before initiating install, but I am not 100 percent sure
check the hp site under support for a more recent software bundle for your device. If one is available, download and use that for the new installation. If not, use the original CD.
Install the device EXACTLY as documented. Do not plug in the usb cable until directed to do so.
These steps should help you
