Giving access to program/data in XP Home
I have acquired the following problem:
User owns a Dell Laptop running Windows XP Home, forgets her password and cannot sign on to her account. She signs on as Administrator and deletes her working profile and re-creates it, Now she is unable to run any of her programs.
What is the best way to grant the new profile access to her programs and her data which is still in her computer. Your help will be appreciated since her semester school work is locked up in her Laptop and needs data for a project she has been working on.
Thanks, Andiol

Driver Terrier
Login as administrator and take ownership of the files as described here
I would suggest the settings and transfer wizard for the programs, but since her original profile has been deleted this may not work.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

NooNoo thanks for your help. That fixed the bulk of her problems. There are a few minor issues with programs that won't run but its nothing that a quick reinstall won't fix.
Thanks, Andiol
