    computer keeps crashing help!!!

    hi

i dont know if this problem actually fits under this category but maybe someone here can tell me what the problem is

i had Windows XP installed on my computer, then i got a really bad virus so i decided to reinstall windows

    this time using WIN2000

i am not very computer illiterate, so i dont know if i did the installation right

first off, iwhen i boot it asks me what system do i want to load up

    win2000 or XP

shouldnt the XP be deleted from the system?

will this cause problems? if so how do i delete it?

anyway after a lot fo work i finally got it u and running

    but now it does this

it freezes up sometimes, the screen will just go balck or the mouse stops moving, and CTRL + ALT + DELETE dont do anything

then when it is booting up it will freeze right when the windows 2000 screen first starts to load

i keep rebooting and finally it will load windows .. and then crash again

    or

it will start to load windows, then i get this error:

    UNEXPECTED KERNEL ERROR

    0000.000.00.0.0.00.0. BLAH BLAH BLAH

    dumping memory now

    or something like that

then it freezes up ro shuts down

what in God's name have i done wrong?

    thanks in advance

PS the system report on my computer is lsited below

From what I gather, instead of deleting the partition with Win XP on it, you created another partition, on which Win 2000 was installed on.

I suggest simply, to reinstall Win 2000 or XP. When it request partition
size to be set etc. Make sure you FIRST delete existing partition, then enter new partition size for desired Operating System.

Do just what cdclintdll said. I sugest you can just load XP back on right now you're dual booting with XP & 2000. Some people have system like that.

Put the XP cd in and restart the computer, it will boot to cd and you might get a message "Boot from CD hit any key to continue", do so and it will load. U will get to another screen states installed XP and if so what drive, Just delete both patition and when both deleted you will have one drive total 40GB unpartition and then hit enter to install XP and that it. if your computer dosent boot to the CD, you will have to go into the bios and set it to boot to CD.

Be sure to let it "format" the drive using "ntfs". DO NOT do a "quick format" or you will get undesirable results.
