Only if you can card count to 5 decks

    6 deck shoes...yeah...not

but that only really comes into it on the last deal or so of the deck and the way they do it now narrows that chance down to......

adept would be a great mod, but I don't see that happening.

other than that, it doesn't really matter to me, although I must grin to myself when I see a few people who were joining in the uproar last night mentioned as being new possible mods...........?? ¿¿ ??

Don't infer so vaguely, just come right out and make you beef...otherwise, you’re not making your point clear…

If a mod is a female, then she will garner respect from males due to her sex. She is free to post her opinions, beliefs, etc, without much rebellion from the mostly male posters here. She would be free to deliver mod duties without much objection due to her sex.

If a male member here wants to be a mod, and have respect from day one, then they must be unknown, and also not get involved in the politics section, the daily dribble, or post their beliefs, and or opinions on controversial subjects.

The only current member who I could possibly nominate at this point is Adept.

Anyone could be a mod, just give them a new identity.

I somewhat agree on most of your points, but you obviously don't recall Adept has a profound opinion about many different subjects, and has pontificated as much as any of us, hell more so than some of us.

The point I agree with, as a moderator you can't play in the games which typically have sides that will sponsor favoritism. It’s ok though to have an opinion, and you should be wiling to explore that opinion openly, but at a pace which reflects an open respect to another’s opposing belief. I think that is where the crucial effort is most needed from a moderator.

In that respect, I think Adept has produced a level of objectivity often enough to have my respect. But then, I typically see more eye to eye with his somewhat more conservative beliefs…so perhaps I too am picking sides, and not seeing his objectivity accurately.

As far as a woman moderator having an edge over the male members, I can see your point, but strongly disagree. In fact, NooNoo has had to work harder as a moderator, possibly because the community knows she is female…think about that…

Adept has proven repeatedly that he can be objective even when he dislikes a person or disagrees with what they are saying.

This is why, were I granted votes, I would vote for both Adept and Mayet.

I can't believe anybody would seriously consider Ya_Know for moderator. If I had a vote against, I would vote against Ya_Know.

Is this your application for the job Ya_k?

As far as adept goes, he has proven over the years that he is a good and decent man. That right there, in this world, is alot. Everyone has opinions, everyone disagrees, but not everyone has a good and decent heart and belief and fight in them. That, I for one have seen, he has displayed remarkably since I've known him. And, with all the attacks on his charachter and beliefs, it is simply amazing the man is still with us. THAT says alot. And, perusing the archives gives one an even greater respect for the man. That is how I learned more about ILTU as well.
And, on the subject of women as mods, Mobile has some good points as do you. This here in particular:
In fact, NooNoo has had to work harder as a moderator, possibly because the community knows she is female…think about that
You can substitute the word female with the word of your choice, and you can have many different mods over the years who may be here, or have come and gone. This is not an easy job for anyone. Heck, it wasn't easy before with the hours spent at the job. And, make no mistake, it IS a job when you get right down to it. And, again, it is not easy.

A point on the male female thing...

Us females around here hold our own......I have been a chat mod for quite a while now and find I get just as much respect as the guys do.

NooNoo and I both have different ways of approaching stuff and there has been occasions where i have had to prove myself...but that may be because I have a pretty light hearted approach to life at the best of times and usually only get real serious when its required to deal with an idiot in chat...

The people I find do take a step back are the newbies or guests in chat because everyone here pretty well knows me. I have the same sick sense of weird humour that most of the guy here have and although there is times when people push the boundaries I always find a way to laugh it off and change the ambience.....

noonoo gains her respect not because of her sex but in spite of it. She knows more than most of the blokes all put together in one hairy sweating pile.......

and the other ladies here like PGG and amy and sunshine are all highly respected and not looked at as being helpless females unable to do a thing cept stand there and go..oooh I broke a nail.......no way can i change out this motherboard...................

They all gain the respect of the guys for being themselves..................

    May,
You missed my point. My bad for not explaining myself well enough. Females are given respect upfront. Guys don't want to be rude, mean to a female at first. Call it upbringing. A guy dealing with another guy, it's a "territorial" thing, a big dog mentality, so to speak. See Ya_ Know for further reference.

You, and the other ladies here have more than proven yourselves. Especially Noo. I never said you were helpless females.

Yes, you are right, but pictures help a whole lot too.

Hey May, what happened to the guy from your site with the Calvin & Hobbes avatar?

In one way I see your point....the board is pretty starved of female company and you guys do take real good care of the few you have. But having said that, we are all the sort of females that do hold our own on a tech board.

What if it was a bubblehead logging in though...Remember inferno..we all..well some of us thought that was a female for a long time.....and even after that I wasn't so sure........and Inferno at that time didn't garner any respect from the guys aound here and probably less from me......man they had some hilarious blasted posts though...didn't they but I think everyone was pretty blunt with opinions on them and their posts.....rightly so iffin you ask me

i reakon it's a bit person related and how the personalities come out in posts and first impressions....

and Clavin and Hobbes..AKA Spaceman Spiff....AKA Steve Porter is still around on various forums I attend

I will be getting a new forum up online pretty soonly of my ownsomes but meanwhile I am getting Krystals forum up and running and adminning hers while showing her the how to's and how not to's plus just looking after the business sites that I did take with me when I left hubby........

    krystals forum is growing http://www.rejectz.com/forums
pretty well says what it means..... but its her choice and her ideas...I just get to spend the night skinning it for her tonight while she is out partying..in her colours mind you too red and black which i hate working with...

I bought a whole heaps of domains a year or so ago that have just come into their own so that's my next commercial venture as well as looking at a tech business to buy at the moment for Krystal and myself to run.....

You obviously don't remember the tantrum over the deleted threads; that grudge lasted for probably as long as 4 months, Adept insulted everyone associated, me included. So, that said, he and I have something in common, we both have human characteristics. And Mayet has ripped up Trip a thousand times harder than anyone in the forum, and at times perhaps rightly so. However he's a new mod, so that should represent a conflict now as well.

As far as you not holding me in high regard, well, it confirms one thing I already knew...you’re still hurt about the breakup, and resent me… j/k. Tell me specifically why you think I shouldn’t be nominated. I don’t mean, why you, the clam, wouldn’t vote for me, but why anyone thinking it’s a viable thing should consider otherwise. I’m game for airing out the laundry…you too 3 fingers…oh, and me having been banned can’t be used, precedence has already been set that that doesn’t matter when being positioned as a Mod.
