speaker sound works for "music" cds, but not "game" cds. help!
i've gone through all the "system" screens, the sound screens, the multimedia screens and i can't figure it out. the speaker sounds were gone completely until i saw that the little yellow speaker sign at the bottom of the screen on the bar was muted. so i fixed that, then i was able to play music cds, but my son's games will not work. what do i need to do. all the pc speaker, microphone, line in , cd audio, midi, wave, volumn controls are all on (none muted and volumn all the way up). every where i have found volumn controls they are all on. can anyone tell me what to do? (windows 98SE)

Try resetting the configuration within the game to refind the soundcard.
Music CDs go through a seperate cable direct to the soundcard unlike game sounds which go through the pc itself,so the card is working but it may be configured incorrectly.

As you`ve not enabled replies I`ll respond to your private mailing to me here:
Depending on the game and its age there may be a "setup" or "configuration" section or seperate executable[mostly DOS games] that may enable you to choose the soundcard type and its IRQ/DMA settings.
Which games are you trying to play and does the soundcard work alright under windows i.e the media player etc ?
